What is the purpose of Special Olympics?
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. At the school level in Davie County, these opportunities are provided through bowling, basketball, track and field competitions.
What is the first step towards participation?
Athletes need to have an Athlete Participation Form completed if they are 8 and older by a parent/guardian AND medical provider.

For athletes ages 2 to 7 years of age, they need to have a Young Athlete Form completed by a parent/guardian.
