A substitute teacher is a vital part of student learning in the absence of the teacher.
To be a substitute teacher in DCS, you must:
- hold a current or expired teaching license, or
- be at least two years beyond high school graduation, and have two years of relevant experience OR completed two years of college
- successfully complete an approved substitute teacher training program
If you hold a current or expired teaching license or have completed an approved substitute teacher training program, please go to the APP-Garden University website and complete the DCS Substitute Orientation Course - $59.00.
If neither of the above requirements applies to your situation, please go to the APP-Garden University website and complete the DCS Substitute Orientation Course and Effective Teacher Training - $69.00
If you are a returning substitute for Davie County Schools, please go to the APP-Garden University website and complete the DCS Substitute Orientation Course for Returning Substitutes - $19.00
This training will provide guidelines, strategies, and practical information that will help prepare you to be successful in the classroom.
Please note: If you are applying to become a new substitute for Davie County Schools, purchasing and taking the course(s) does not guarantee employment. The course(s) is a requirement to be considered for employment.
Once you have completed the appropriate course and an online application, please contact Kelly Kluttz at 336-751-5921 ext. 1033 to set up an appointment to complete paperwork. A background check will be completed, and references will be contacted before being approved.
