Inclement Weather

Please know that the safety of students and staff is our utmost priority. We do not take weather safety concerns lightly and consider all areas in the district, as well as all travel scenarios, when closely monitoring weather and travel conditions.

As such, Davie County Schools may make the decision to close early, to delay, or to cancel school when winter weather makes driving conditions hazardous or temperatures are too cold to properly operate bus equipment. We will make every reasonable effort to make announcements by 6:00 AM.   If a decision can be made in the evening, we will do so. If an announcement is made, it is applicable to those students and staff scheduled to report that day. If no announcement is made, schools will operate on a normal schedule.

To communicate how inclement weather has affected our normal school operation, the SchoolMessenger notification system will be used to announce schedule changes to all parents, students, and staff. SchoolMessenger will begin calling parents and students at 6:00 AM, but it takes some time for the system to call the homes of all students and staff.   In addition, announcements will be communicated through the Davie County Schools' website and social media feeds. Information may also be shared on local media channels below.  Please continue to monitor schedule announcements as conditions may change and warrant updating.

Weather conditions sometimes become unfavorable during the day after students have arrived at school. In the event we have to dismiss early, a SchoolMessenger  message will be sent to all parents, posted on our website, social media, and sent to local media outlets. Working parents are advised to make arrangements for childcare on days when schools must be dismissed early.

We will communicate closings, delays, and early dismissals as quickly as possible. Our primary concern is the safety of children and our staff.  Thank you for your continued support!
