New Location Offers Extended Hours and Care for Younger Children
Mocksville, NC — Davie County Schools (DCS), in partnership with Davie County, has announced the opening of a new early childhood learning center in Mocksville, set to open on Monday, August 24, 2026.
The Eagles Nest Preschool, located at 622 North Main Street in the Brock Center, was established in response to a growing need for access to high-quality childcare in Davie County. This need intensified following the closure last year of a childcare center in the Brock Center and the recent closure this summer of a popular child care center in Cooleemee. At the close of the 2025-2026 school year, the Davie County Schools Preschool program had a waitlist of 103 children, underscoring the urgent demand for early childhood locations.
“This new preschool center reflects our commitment to supporting families and ensuring each child has access to a strong educational start,” said Dr. Heath Belcher, Superintendent. “By opening a new DCS location, offering extended hours, and operating year-round, we are removing barriers for working parents while investing in the success of our future Davie County Schools learners. We are also grateful for the partnership with the County in making this happen.”
The new DCS Preschool location is designed to provide greater support to our families including:
Expanded services to offer high-quality care for children ages 1-2, along with the current ages 3-4 year olds
Extended operating hours from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. to better accommodate the needs of Davie County families
Curriculum alignment with other DCS PreK locations, helping ensure children are prepared for elementary school
Year-round care so families are not limited by the DCS school calendar
New preschool employment opportunities with state benefits, supporting both the local economy and childcare workforce
Eagles Nest Preschool is operated by Davie County Schools’ experienced preschool leadership team, which will continue exploring opportunities to expand classroom space. Fee structure for the Eagles Nest Preschool is available online here and reflects the added benefits/offerings listed above.
Importantly, all existing DCS early childhood programs, including school-based Pre-K classrooms and the main Pre-K center on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive will continue to operate on their current schedules.
