Finance Department

The Davie County Schools Finance Department is responsible for managing the district’s financial resources to support student and staff success. This includes budgeting, payroll, accounting, purchasing, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The team works closely with school and district leaders to ensure funds are used efficiently, transparently, and in alignment with educational goals and priorities.

Clay Harris, Chief Operations Officer

Clay Harris has more than 25 years of leadership experience across both the public and private sectors. He joined Davie County Schools as Chief Finance Officer in 2019, and now, as Chief Operations Officer, he oversees district-wide operational initiatives including Transportation, Maintenance and School Nutrition.

Prior to his current role, he served in neighboring Davidson County Schools as the district’s Chief Finance Officer and held various financial leadership roles. His earlier career at PepsiCo included managing large-scale contact centers, leading payroll and accounts receivable operations, and implementing national process improvements.

Known for his strategic mindset and financial expertise, Harris is committed to building operational systems that support student success along with organizational transparency and excellence.

Harris earned his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
