Dear DCS Families,
Last night, our Board of Education voted to approve several proposed calendar adjustments due to the recent inclement weather. The following changes were made and you can locate the updated calendars HERE.
Waiver for two closed days of Monday, January 26, 2026 and Monday, February 2, 2026
January 27-February 3 - Five Remote Learning Days for Students, Remote working days for staff
For staff, optional makeup teacher workdays on Thursday, June 11 and 12; for ECHS, Thursday, May 28 and 29
Wednesday, February 25 will become a full instructional day instead of an early release, recovering 3 instructional hours
Many districts across our state have exhausted their allowable remote learning days due to prolonged closures from the recent winter storms. Davie County Schools has no remaining remote learning days available, according to current state requirements.
In response, Superintendent Dr. Heath Belcher joined other Piedmont Triad superintendents in a letter to state legislative leaders asking for more flexibility with remote learning days and additional support during extended weather emergencies. You can read more about it HERE on EdNC's website.
We are hopeful for better weather ahead and appreciate your continued support.
