We are excited to share several leadership updates that were approved by the Board of Education on Tuesday, June 2, 2026

Congratulations to the following individuals as they serve Davie County Schools in their respective roles beginning July 1, 2026.

Taylor Vestal, Director of Exceptional Children - Taylor is joining Davie County Schools from Yadkin County Schools, where she has served as the exceptional children’s program coordinator and student services coordinator. Read more about her in the press release HERE.

Tracie Welch, Principal at William R. Davie Elementary - Tracie has over 21 years in education with a variety of experiences in school leadership. Most recently, she was the assistant principal at William R. Davie and will now transition to the role of principal. Read more about Tracie HERE.

Joey Davis, Assistant Principal at William R. Davie Elementary - Joey is a graduate of the NC Principal Fellow PPEERS program at UNC-Greensboro. He spent the last year as an intern at Cooleemee Elementary and will be the assistant principal at William R. Davie.

Katherine Shepherd, Assistant Principal at Davie County High School - Katherine is also a graduate of the NC Principal Fellows PPEERS program at UNC-Greensboro. She spent the last year as an intern at William Ellis Middle School and will be added to the leadership team at the high school as an additional assistant principal.
